[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Driver, attached to the Guyana Beverage Inc., charged with causing death by dangerous driving, was today (Monday, September 1), placed on $1M bail by Magistrate Judy Latchman.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ravin Singh who resides at North East Grove, East Bank Demerara was not required to plea to the charge.

It is alleged that on July 14 at Avenue of Republic, Georgetown he drove motor vehicle GNN 3876 in a manner dangerous to the public thereby causing the death of Rajmattie Ram.

Singh was represented by Attorney-at-Law Debra Kumar. In a bail application, the Counsel pleaded with the Court; claiming that the accused does not pose a flight risk.

Kumar said that the defence has an eyewitness who claims that the deceased was struck by a minibus instead of the vehicle the accused was driving.

Police Inspector, Michael Grant did not oppose bail.

Singh will reappear before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on September 9.
