Police in Regional Division # 3 are investigating an alleged firearm incident which occurred on Saturday August 15, 2026 about 17:20hrs along the Pouderoyen Public Road, West Bank Demerara, involving a 28-year-old construction worker of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo and a 38-year-old businessman of Pouderoyen, WBD.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the 28-year-old man was driving a motor vehicle along the Pouderoyen Public Road when he encountered the 38-year-old businessman, who was on a motorcycle. An incident subsequently occurred between the two road users, resulting in an argument.
During the altercation, the 38-year-old businessman allegedly drew a firearm, pointed it in the direction of the 28-year-old man and made a threat, causing him to become fearful for his life.
Acting on information received, Police subsequently contacted the 38-year-old businessman, who was informed of the allegation and arrested.
The firearm involved was found to be a licensed .32 Taurus pistol, for which the businessman is the licensed firearm holder. The firearm, along with a magazine containing 11 live .32 rounds of ammunition, was lodged pending investigation.
CCTV cameras were seen in the area and footage was reviewed.
The 38-year-old businessman remains in Police custody as investigations continue.
