Vendor accused of snatching Gold Chain remanded to Prison

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Victor Robert, accused of stealing a gold chain, was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Monday, May 19.

Robert, a vendor pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on May 16 at Avenue of Republic, Georgetown, he stole the item from Zola Campbell, which is worth $80,000.

Police Prosecutor, Bharat Mangru told the Court that on the day in question, the Virtual complainant (VC) was walking along Avenue of Republic, when the defendant approached her and snatched the chain from her. Later that day, the victim identified the accused at a Shell gas station.

The case was put off to June 6.
