The People’s Progressive Party/Civic has won Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) – the home of President Dr Irfaan Ali.
Results from this district were officially declared by the Returning Officer on Tuesday and have since been uploaded on the Guyana Elections Commission’s (GECOM) website.
Based on the declared figures, the PPP/C earned 48,055 votes in the general elections, while the We Invest In Nationhood (WIN) party got 12,969 and A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) received 8,992 votes.
The Forward Guyana Movement (FGM) got 522 votes, the Alliance For Change (AFC) 322, and the Assembly for Liberty and Prosperity (ALP) 138 votes.
In the regional elections, the PPP/C secured 47,754 votes, followed by WIN with 13,020 votes, APNU with 8,907, FGM with 540, AFC with 299 and ALP 148.
