The Kitty/Campbellville Community Policing Group was officially relaunched on Saturday, during a ceremony held at the Kitty Police Station.
The event, was spearheaded by Inspector Stephen and Sergeant David as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community engagement and foster closer collaboration between residents and the Guyana Police Force.
The proceedings were presided over by Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Dwayne Adams; Officer-in-Charge of #3 Sub-Division, Superintendent R. Dass; and Community Policing Group Liaison Officer attached to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Phillip Ishmael.
A democratic election was conducted, allowing community members to nominate and vote for members of the executive committee. The newly elected executive comprises:
1. Chairman: Mr. Cleon Chung
2. Vice Chairman: Mr. Danely Major
3. Secretary: Mr. Shawn Roopnarine
4. Treasurer: Mr. Shiek Basil
5. Assistant Secretary/Treasurer: Mr. Jesvin Kumar
6. Public Relations Officer: Mr. Otis Pearson
The executive will be supported by seven additional community members who will actively participate in the group’s activities and initiatives.
In his closing remarks, Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Dwayne Adams highlighted the important role of Community Policing Groups in contributing to safety and security within communities. He encouraged members to work closely with the Guyana Police Force and other stakeholders to address community concerns, promote crime prevention and strengthen relationships between residents and law enforcement.
The relaunch marks another step towards greater community participation, partnership and collaboration in promoting a safer and more secure Kitty/Campbellville community.
