The Guyana Police Force is currently looking for a Sophia, Greater Georgetown, businessman, who is reportedly evading a rape charge in relation to a child.
The suspect, 32-year-old Timothy Fraser of ‘C’ Field, Sophia Squatting Area, was arrested on September 06 at about 08:30 hours and placed in custody for Rape of a Child Under Sixteen Years.
According to the police, he remained in custody on $200,000 bail for about six days because he was unable to make bail, which had to be reduced for him to have pretrial liberty on September 15. The file in this matter was delayed due to the wait for the Forensic Interview report.
However, this was eventually obtained, and the matter was filed the following day on September 16, after advice was obtained for him to appear before the court the next day.
But when the matter was called on September 17, the suspect failed to appear.
“Efforts were made yesterday (Friday) to serve a summons on him for court, but he could not be located at his Sophia home. A police Wanted Bulletin is being prepared, as indications are that he left for the interior,” the police said.
