The Providence-Glasgow housing development in Region Six, which is expected to accommodate approximately 1,800 residential lots, is nearing completion, with allottees set to begin viewing their allocated lots before the end of November.

Minister of Housing, Collin Croal, made the announcement on Wednesday during a site visit to assess ongoing infrastructure works, accompanied by engineers, contractor representatives and surveyors from the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA). Also present were Senior Engineer Intecab Indarjeet, Deputy Director of Projects at CHPA, Regional Chairman for Region Six, Junior Basant, and Regional Executive Officer Ronald Harsawack.

The development spans more than 650 acres, with Government investing approximately $9.3 billion in infrastructure works, including roads, drains, bridges and pipe networks. Of the 17 infrastructure lots awarded to contractors, 14 have progressed sufficiently for survey paals to be placed, allowing surveying and preparations for lot viewings to proceed.

Survey paals are being placed to facilitate the identification of lots for allottees. The temporary lot numbers identified include 214 to 300, 457 to 539, 732 to 754, 794 to 838, and 987 to 1010. Beneficiaries will be invited in batches to view their allocated lots before the end of November.

Meanwhile, three contractors whose works are behind schedule will face liquidated damages, with CHPA officials directed to proceed with the necessary action. Plans are also in place for electricity connections and well drilling as the development progresses.
