The Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) is conducting field testing and analysis exercises at fuel terminals across the country, to ensure compliance with national standards.
Last Wednesday, the agency’s mobile lab was deployed to the GuyOil Terminal in Providence, East Bank Demerara, during which, inspectors collected fuel samples from a vessel for analysis using newly-introduced instruments.
According to the GEA, similar field operations will continue at fuel terminals, where data collected during the testing processes will be reviewed, analysed and compared against national standards to ensure compliance.
The GEA said these fuel quality testing exercises will be implemented in a sustained and comprehensive manner.
In this regard, the agency explained that the testing of fuel imported into Guyana will be done at the point of entry for all fuel importers, upon vessels’ arrival at terminals, and before the fuel is discharged into shore tanks. Additionally, it will complement the stationary laboratory at the GEA’s office.
