The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has launched an investigation into a $5 million theft at the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).

This was confirmed by Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, when contacted by this publication.

According to Blanhum, several GECOM employees are currently assisting with the probe.

The incident reportedly occurred between September 15-16, 2025.
