[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty – one – year old Navar Edwards, known as ‘Ramesh’ was found hanging from a sheet tied to the door of his cell in the Mazaruni Prison, according to the Police Force.
According to a media release, the discovery was made at approximately 15:00hrs on Wednesday, April 15. The Police Force noted that the convicted prisoner hails from No. 0 Village, Corentyne, Berbice and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bartica Hospital.
Edwards was serving a five-year sentence for a sexual offence and had been admitted to the Mazaruni Prison on April 09, 2015. Investigations are in progress.
