Police ranks, led by a Gazetted Officer, conducted a joint eradication exercise at Kimbia, Upper Berbice River, between 04:30hrs and 19:55hrs on Thursday May 7, 2026.
During the exercise, two (2) fields with a combined area of approximately eight (8) acres were located, on which approximately three hundred thousand (300,000) cannabis plants were discovered.
The plants ranged between four (4) and six (6) feet in height. Two (2) makeshift camps and two (2) drying areas were also found at the location, where approximately four hundred (400) pounds of dried cannabis were discovered.
The cannabis plants, dried cannabis, camps and drying areas were destroyed by fire. No arrests were made and the operation was conducted without incident.
The estimated value of the narcotics destroyed is two hundred and sixty-four million, nine hundred and thirty-three thousand, one hundred and twenty dollars ($264,933,120) Guyana currency.
