Police are investigating an alleged wounding committed on Geraldy Angel, a male Venezuelan national, by persons of Venezuelan nationality, which occurred at about 00:30 hrs today (Sunday) at Best Village, West Coast Demerara.
According to Alianda Martin, a 20-year-old female Venezuelan from Vreed-en-Hoop, WCD, she, her husband, and other family members were drinking at a bar at Best Village, WCD, where an argument ensued between she and her husband, Osmel Figuera.
Several other male Venezuelan nationals began fighting, and one of them was armed with a cutlass, dealt one chop to the victim’s left thigh, causing him to receive injuries. He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a Doctor, treated, and admitted as a patient. His condition is regarded as stable.
Several people were questioned, but no useful information was received due to the language barrier. Checks were made for the suspect, but he was not contacted or seen in the area.
