According to the police, the dead taxi driver has been identified as 42 – year – old Sooklall Roopnarine of Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.
Police stated that at about 07:30h. today Monday August 05, 2013, motor lorry GJJ 7750 and motor car HB 8254, which were travelling in opposite directions, collided on the Land of Canaan Public Road, East Bank Demerara.
According to the police information, the taxi driver received injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Diamond Hospital.
The driver of the motor lorry is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
