See full statement from the Guyana Police Force:

Police ranks, led by a Gazetted Officer, conducted a cannabis eradication exercise at Gaetroy Savannah, Upper Berbice River, on Sunday, July 26, 2026, between 07:00hrs and 16:30hrs.

During the exercise, three farms with a combined area of approximately five acres were located, on which approximately thirty-five thousand (35,000) suspected cannabis plants were discovered.

The plants ranged between two inches and five feet in height. One makeshift camp was also discovered.
The suspected cannabis plants were uprooted and destroyed by fire, along with the makeshift camp.

The estimated value of the narcotics destroyed is eleven million, five hundred and nineteen thousand, two hundred dollars ($11,519,200) Guyana currency.

No arrest made. Investigations continue.
