President Dr Irfaan Ali has revealed that in two years’ time, Guyana will be home to two of the largest gold mines in the South American region.

He made the disclosure this afternoon during a manifesto consultation with stakeholders hosted by the People’s Progressive Party/Civic.

“By 2027, we will have two of the largest mining production operational here in Guyana, outside oil and gas,” Ali stated.

According to the President, at least one of these companies has already started the recruitment process and is looking to hire more than 1200 workers for its operation here.
