The Peoples Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) has announced plans to introduce legislation to guide the importation of foreign labour.
The announcement was made today during a consultation on the PPP/C’s manifesto.
President Dr Irfaan Ali said the Attorney General Chambers has already commenced work in this regard and more progress on this would be made during the party’s next term in office.
The PPP/C administration has already revealed that it will be importing labour to meet growing local demand.
“Over the long-term, and as our economy grows further, we will have to look towards the importation of skilled labour,” the Head of State previously remarked.
He had further noted that, “our population is much too small to sustain an economy which is tripled in size in recent years.”
