An 18-year-old construction worker of Richmond Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) has been charged with the rape of a child under the age of 16. Joshua Pollard appeared at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on Monday before Magistrate Tariq Mohamed.
It is alleged that Pollard committed the offence against a 13-year-old girl on April 22, 2026, at Richmond, Essequibo Coast.
The charge was laid under Section 10(3) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 8:03. Pollard was not required to plead to the indictable charge. The prosecution objected to bail, however the court granted bail in the sum of $300,000. As a condition of bail, Pollard was ordered to have no contact with the complainant or her family pending the outcome of the matter. The case was adjourned to May 13.
