Taxi Driver granted bail on fraud charge

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Taxi Driver, Paul Marshal was granted $100,000 bail on Thursday, February 12 on a fraudulent conversion charge.

Marshal, of Republic Drive Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

It is alleged that on October 17, 2013 at Georgetown, being solely entrusted by Nicola Clarke with the sum of $500,000 to purchase building materials, he fraudulently converted it to his own use and benefits.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant noted that the defendant has a pending domestic violence matter before Magistrate Annette Singh.

The current matter was adjourned to March 13 and the accused was also ordered to report to the Brickdam Police station every Friday at 09:00 hrs.
