President Ali, VP Jagdeo hold talks with US, Indian delegations to deepen strategic partnerships

President Dr Irfaan Ali and Vice President (VP) Dr Bharrat Jagdeo on Tuesday held separate engagements with visiting delegations from the United States and India as Guyana continues to strengthen international partnerships across key sectors.

VP Jagdeo met with a United States delegation comprising leaders from the fields of diplomacy, investment, technology, security, aviation, housing and logistics. The discussions are part of ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation and explore opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

VP Bharrat Jagdeo had discussions with a delegation from the United States of America which comprised a group of leaders from diplomacy, investment, technology, security, aviation, housing and logistics, including US Ambassador to Guyana Nicole Theriot

Meanwhile, President Ali received an advance delegation from India at the Office of the President ahead of the scheduled visit of India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

During the meeting, which was attended by members of the Cabinet, President Ali underscored the importance of advancing bilateral relations between Guyana and India. He highlighted several priority areas for expanded cooperation, including energy, agriculture, Government efficiency, trade and finance.

The Indian delegation was led by Sudhakar Dalela, Secretary of Economic Relations in India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

In a separate engagement, VP Jagdeo also met with the Indian delegation led by Dalela. Other members of the delegation included Suja K. Menon, Dr Amit Telang, Sarath Sankar and Aman Puri.

The delegation is currently in Guyana as preparations continue for the proposed visit of India’s External Affairs Minister.
