President Granger to address high-level defence & security conference in Washington

[www.inewsguyana.com] – President David Granger is expected to leave Guyana today, Thursday, July 23 to attend a high-level meeting where he will address a conference on Defence and Security at the Centre for Hemispheric Studies in Washington, DC, United Stated of America.

Mr. Granger is a Perry Center (former Centre for Hemispheric Studies) graduate of the 2000 Defense Planning and Resource Management course. In the years since, he has lent his considerable expertise to Perry Center programs by serving as adjunct faculty at the Center in both 2008 and 2010.

According to Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, the President is also expected to meet with personnel of the Department of State where he will advise on the current controversy between Guyana and neighbouring Venezuela.

President Granger will be accompanied by Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force, Brigadier Mark Phillips. [GINA]
