To advance health care within the Guyana Prison Service (GPS), the Timehri Prison installed new dental equipment on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to elevating health care standards.
Director of Prisons, Nicklon Elliot expressed his excitement about this advancement, emphasising its importance to ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services for the incarcerated population in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
“We are thrilled to announce these advancements in dental services, is a testament to our ongoing commitment to improving healthcare standards for the inmates we serve,” Elliot said.
The Director underscored the importance of dental hygiene and encouraged inmates to make full use of the newly introduced services.
Elliot highlighted how improvements in dental care align with the broader development of health services across GPS facilities.
“The GPS has committed to remain steadfast in its mission of providing a comprehensive range of quality healthcare services,” he affirmed.
Officer-in-Charge of the prison location, Assistant Superintendent of Prisons, Jennifer James, commended the enhancement, emphasising its significance in showcasing GPS’s dedication to being at the forefront of healthcare innovation within prison settings.
