The Guyana Amazon Warriors have etched their name into Women’s Caribbean Premier League history, lifting the WCPL T20 title for the first time after a thrilling two-wicket victory over the Trinbago Knight Riders at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
Chasing 146 for victory, the Guyana Amazon Warriors reached 149/8 in 19.3 overs, completing the chase with three balls remaining. The result was a tense finish that ultimately came down to one outstanding individual contribution.
Chedean Nation produced the decisive innings, smashing an unbeaten 39 from just 21 deliveries, including four sixes. Her aggressive late-innings hitting changed the momentum of the chase and proved the difference between the two sides.
Earlier, the Trinbago Knight Riders posted 145/6 from their 20 overs. Sushma Verma top-scored with 39 from 34 balls, while Shikha Pandey contributed 27 off 17, and Marizanne Kapp struck a rapid 25 from only 10 deliveries.
For Guyana, Chloe Tryon played a valuable supporting role with 32 from 18 balls, while her side’s bowlers kept the target within reach. Deandra Dottin took 2/19, and Karishma Ramharack claimed 2/27.
With the pressure mounting in the final overs, Nation held her nerve and delivered the defining blow. The maiden WCPL championship is now Guyana’s, marking a memorable chapter for the Chloe Tryon-led Warriors.
