Security guard murdered at Non Pareil

Police are investigating an alleged murder which occurred on Wednesday September 16, 2026 about 21:25hrs at a supermarket along the Non Pareil Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara, resulting in the death of Keion Wilman, a 25-year-old security officer of Dazzel Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Wilman, who was performing security duties at the supermarket, was in the entrance area when two males reportedly approached on a motorcycle. One of the males allegedly discharged a firearm in Wilman’s direction, after which both males fled the area on the motorcycle.

Wilman sustained gunshot injuries to his upper body and was transported to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention.

A suspected warhead and a suspected live 9mm round of ammunition were recovered from the scene. A 12-gauge shotgun and four live cartridges, which were issued to Wilman in connection with his duties as an armed security officer, were also recovered and lodged.

CCTV footage has been obtained as Police continue efforts to identify and locate the two suspects.

Wilman’s body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Investigations are ongoing.
