Dead: Deputy Superintendent Dexter Brown

An Officer of the Guyana Police Force, Deputy Superintendent Dexter Brown, is now dead after losing control of his motor car and crashing into a bridge before going overboard into the nearby trench.

The accident occurred at about 01:20hrs today (Sunday, April 27, 2025) on the Montrose Public Road, East Coast Demerara.

The 37-year-old officer who resided at Toucan Drive, South Ruimveldt Gardens, Georgetown, was reportedly driving motorcar PAG 6458 at the time of the incident.

The vehicle is owned by a 30-year-old businesswoman of Ann’s Grove, E.C.D.

Police say inquiries disclosed that Brown was proceeding west on Montrose Public Road, allegedly at a fast rate, when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with the concrete bridge at Montrose.

As a result of the collision, the car flipped and ended up in a trench on the side of the road and was left submerged.

With the help of public-spirited citizens, police were able to take Brown out of the submerged car. He was in an unconscious state.

Brown was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was examined by a doctor and pronounced dead.

The vehicle has since been removed and taken to the Sparendaam Police Station to be examined by a licensing and certifying officer.

The body of Brown is at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation Mortuary, awaiting a post mortem examination.

Further investigations are ongoing.
