Lorry driver dies after crashing into fence at Cotton Tree

A man was killed on Saturday afternoon after the lorry he was driving crashed into a fence on the Cotton Tree Public Road, West Coast Berbice (WCB).

Dead is 65-year-old, O’Neil Adrian, a resident of Woodley Park Village, West Coast Berbice.

The accident occurred at about 17:40 hours on Saturday.

According to police reports, Adrian was driving motor lorry (GLL 1539) proceeding east along the Cotton Tree Public Road, and he was negotiating a right bend, he lost control of the vehicle which collided with a concrete fence on the southern side of the said road. As a result, the driver was pinned in the vehicle.

With the assistance of public-spirited citizens, the driver was taken out of the and escorted to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced him dead on arrival.

His body is presently at the Bailey’s Funeral Home  awaiting a post mortem examination.
