At about 07:45 hrs today (Friday), Police received information via a 911 call on the sighting of a motionless human body in a trench, located on the western side of the Church of God Road at Buxton, East Coast Demerara.

Enquiries revealed that the deceased, George Julian Harry, a 66-year-old Guyanese male of African descent and Pensioner of Lot 103 Church of God Road, Buxton, ECD, was known to suffer from ‘seizures’ and was a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital (Clinic).

The body was discovered floating face-down in the trench, clad in a black T-shirt, navy-blue long pants, and barefoot, with a watch on his left wrist. The body was examined and no marks of violence were observed on the most exposed areas.

An attending physician from Melanie Fire Station aboard Ambulance #23, pronounced him dead at the scene.

The body was positively identified by Arita Phillander, a 54-year-old Guyanese female of African descent, a vendor residing at Lot 50 Annandale Railway Embankment, ECD, as her cousin.

Several persons in the area were interviewed. The area was canvassed, and surveillance cameras were observed on a building opposite the scene. Statements are currently being obtained.

The body was subsequently transported to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home for storage, awaiting a Post-mortem Examination.
