[www.inewsguyana.com] – Collin Downes of Lot 14 Durban Street, Lodge was arrested by the police on Saturday, July 11 after a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found in his possession at the Ogle Airport.
iNews understands that at approximately 11:15 hrs, Downes was getting ready to ship some food stuff to an interior location via the Ogle Airport on a domestic flight when the illegal items were discovered.
Police sources stated that the food stuff were about to be loaded on a flight to Kai Kan when ranks from the Police Narcotics Branch conducted an inspection of the food items and found the illegal substance concealed in a 10 KG bag of rice.
The suspected marijuana was weighed at 280 grammes. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the police conducted a search on a house at Lot 15 Norton Street Lodge, Werk – en – Rust where they found 25 grammes of marijuana, hidden in a handbag inside a bedroom.
According to police sources, the room is occupied by 30 – year – old Nadira Persaid, who also claimed that the handbag belongs to her. She was taken into police custody and is assisting with investigations.
