Magistrate dismisses charge against accused due to absence of witnesses

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Adbul Akeem is now a free man after a charge of possession of an offensive weapon was dismissed by Magistrate Judy Latchman on Tuesday, February 12.
The Magistrate took the decision after no witnesses turned up at Court and the fact that the Police did not have any statements on file.
Akeem first appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which noted that on Friday, February 7 at Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, without lawful authority or reasonable cause he had a knife in his possession.
