Local Gov’t Minister remains uncertain on holding of elections

0

During a press conference earlier today, Thursday August 8, the Minister of Local Government Ganga Persaud could not definitively say when local government elections will be held, now that the Bills were passed in the National Assembly.

Persaud was asked if the elections will be held in early 2014, and in response he said, “I don’t know, you feel so?”

The Local Government Minister explained that the Guyana Elections Commission (Gecom) will take about six months to prepare for those elections.
