A 26-year-old porter was pronounced dead on arrival at the Lethem Hospital after he reportedly fell from a motor lorry he was travelling in, on Sunday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Dinesh Ramcharran of Tabatinga, Lethem.
Based on information received, the incident occurred at around 18:30hrs on the Central Rupununi Kumu Trail, Lethem.
Inews understands that the truck (lorry) was transporting Ramcharran, two other passengers and the driver to Kumu, Lethem when the 26-year-old allegedly fell from the moving vehicle.
Police have confirmed that the driver of the motor vehicle is presently in custody as investigations continue.
