International Heart Foundation to provide free pediatric surgeries

[www.inewsguyana.com]The Georgetown Public Hospital will be partnering with the International Children Heart Foundation to offer Pediatric cardiac surgery and care.

In addition, the GPHC will be receiving support to set up a pediatric cardiac foundation.

The programme will commence in July 2014 and will see a team from the foundation coming to Guyana twice annually.

They are scheduled to spend at least three weeks conducting pediatric surgeries and providing the necessary support services.

Founder and Medical Director of the International Children Heart Foundation Dr. William Novick said the services will be provided for free. He explained that the hospital possesses the necessary resources for the completion of the surgeries.

According to Dr. Novick, they are in the process of evaluating persons to benefit from the training programme. The International Children Heart Foundation is a charitable organisation of Memphis Tennessee. It travels around the world offering pediatric heart surgeries. [Akash Ramlackhan]
