Police are investigating the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis which was found on Monday August 10, 2026, about 21:40hrs, during an exercise on Cemetery Road, Georgetown.
During the exercise, ranks, acting on information received, stopped a motor car with two men, ages 25 and 24, inside.
A search of the motor car revealed two black garbage bags in the trunk containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The two men, a 25-year-old construction worker of New Market Street, Rose Hall Town, Berbice, and a 24-year-old farmer of Eversham, East Corentyne, Berbice, were arrested and escorted along with the suspected cannabis to the CID Headquarters.
The suspected cannabis was weighed in their presence and amounted to 9.20 kilograms before being lodged.
The two suspects remain in Police custody as investigations continue.
