Guyanese Badminton team departs for Suriname Tournament

Badminton[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Guyanese Badminton team departed Guyana Suriname bound for the country’s Annual Easter International Tournament set to commence on Friday, April 18.

The four day tournament will feature the cream of the crop in the racquet wielding sport from the Guyana’s eastern inland neighbours.

Walter Amo Sports Hall in Paramaribo will play the host to the prestigious tournament, which will be held from April 18-21, 2014.

According to the GBA, the Guyana Team will participate in the Under-15 & 19 Singles, Doubles and Mix Doubles and the Open Singles, adding that they are confident of good performances.

The Manager/Coach is Gokarn Ramdhani, while Chris Persaud is the Assistant Manager and a Player in Open division and Narayan Ramdhani-Captain and a Player in Under-19 & Open divisions.

Other team members include Jonathan Mangra as Vice Captain and a Player in Under-19, Ronald Chang Yuen in Under-19, Hemraj Beharry in Under-15 & 19
Priyanna Ramdhani in Under-15 & 19, Ambika Ramraj in Under-19 and
Krystal Peters in Under-19
 
Last year,  the Guyanese Players brought home 8 medals at the Under-13 & 17.
