During the 10th Session of the Conference of Parties (COP10) to the International Convention against Doping in Sport held in Paris at the UNESCO Headquarters from the 20-22 October 2025, Guyana, represented by the Minister of Culture Youth and Sport, Charles S. Ramson, was elected to the Approval Committee of the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport.

Established in 2008, the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport assists States Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport to develop and implement anti-doping projects.

Providing practical and technical support, the Fund has three priorities: education projects focusing on youth and sport organizations, policy advice, and mentoring and capacity-building.

Furthermore, through targeted financial support and tailor-made guidance, the Fund also prioritizes Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) States Parties facing difficulties to meet compliance targets.

Since 2008, financial assistance has been provided to over 200 national and regional projects all over the world, translating into more than USD 5 million of investment in more than 120 countries.

This was the first time Guyana attended the conference and its election to the Approval Committee marks a growing recognition of its increasing role of responsibility on the global stage.
