The Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) on Monday deployed a mobile fuel quality lab at the GuyOil Providence, East Bank Demerara location for a fuel quality testing exercise.
Fuel Inspectors Cindy Williams-Paddy and Nikita Shung-Niles were stationed at the Guyoil terminal, awaiting the arrival of a vessel to collect fuel samples for testing and analysis.
Using instruments such as the LQX 1000 and Malvern Epsilon XRF analyser, the team assessed the fuel’s quality and properties, including its sulfur content and other components, before it was discharged into Guyoil’s onshore storage tanks.
The data collected will also support the development of a database documenting the specifications and quality characteristics of fuel imported into Guyana. This database will help establish a record of the fuel being brought into the country and support ongoing fuel quality monitoring and analysis activities by the GEA.
