Police are investigating the fatal shooting of Richard Hayes, a 34-year-old Police Lance Corporal which occurred this morning at the Vreed-en-Hoop stelling, West Coast Demerara.
Police have since arrested the suspect, a 37-year-old businessman (proprietor of a cell phone shop) at the Vreed-en-Hoop Stelling.
Investigations so far indicate that there was an argument between the two over the sale of a cell phone and the suspect shot the victim.
Police have also seized the businessman’s licenced firearm as investigations continue.
Hayes, a father of one, resided at La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.
