The Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, MSS, along with Officers and Ranks of the Guyana Defence Force, extends congratulations to Lieutenant Randy Wade on the successful completion of the Modularised Initial Officer Training Course Number 40 (MIOT 40) at the Royal Air Force Officer Training College in the United Kingdom.
The Guyana Defence Force continues to expand the skills and expertise of its Air Corps, marked by the graduation of its first officer from the Royal Air Force Officer Training College.
This milestone reflects the Force’s commitment to strengthening its operational capacity through exposure to world-class training institutions. Producing officers and ranks of the highest calibre remains crucial to operational success, as it directly enhances leadership effectiveness, mission readiness, and the overall execution of the Force’s mandate.
Lieutenant Wade’s accomplishment represents a significant step forward for the Force, as he becomes the first officer to complete this modularised programme with the Royal Air Force. It underscores the importance of continuous professional development and strategic international partnerships in building a modern and adaptable military.
Conducted from 22 September 2025 to 2 April 2026, MIOT 40 was delivered across four progressive six-week modules, culminating in a comprehensive series of summative assessments. The course is designed to equip junior officers with the essential skills required for effective leadership, command, and operational performance.
Throughout the programme, participants were exposed to diverse training environments and engaged with international peers, fostering both professional growth and a broader understanding of contemporary military operations. The structured, modular approach ensured the steady development of competencies necessary for junior officers to perform effectively in dynamic operational settings.
The Guyana Defence Force commends Lieutenant Wade on this outstanding achievement and extends best wishes for his continued contribution to the development of the Force.
