[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 43 – year – old man was sentenced to four months imprisonment by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for stealing a spray can and other equipment.

Damien James pleaded guilty to the offence on Tuesday, April 29. The Court heard that said on April 9 at Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown, he stole one spray can and hose nozzle together valued $23,800, property of Stanton Haley.

James was unrepresented and told the Court that he suffered an injury to his shoulder and decided to visit his aunt, who is a nurse to have a look at it.

He explained that after he arrived at the house, he saw the equipment and recalled the days when he used to work at the Mayor and City Council (M&CC).

James narrated that suddenly his hands became sticky and he took the spray can. He admitted that he stole the equipment from the virtual complainant (VC), because “they are nice people”.

Before James was escorted to the Court lock up, he apologized to the VC for his misdeed. He said, “Yo big man, with all respect must please tell aunty I’m sorry for tek you thing, y’all are nice people”.
