Flights re-routed from CJIA last night to arrive in Guyana today

The flights that re-routed from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) to the Piarco International Airport last night amid widespread violence in the country are now scheduled to arrive in Guyana today.

American Airlines flight 2557 (JFK) with 155 inbound passengers and 172 outbound passengers, will now arrive at 1441 hours today and depart at 1520 hours.

When the flight was diverted to Port of Spain, 148 passengers were checked in and stayed at the airport; others chose to return home.

Meanwhile, American Airlines flight 1513 (Miami), with 160 inbound passengers and 142 outbound passengers, will now arrive in Guyana at 1341 hours and depart at 1440 hours today. None of the departing passengers were checked in last evening, as this process did not commence.

Meanwhile, the flights operated by Copa and Caribbean Airlines were not affected.

However, for the JetBlue flight, there was an 80 minutes delay on its outbound destination.

For United Airlines,  the flight arrived on time. It was scheduled to depart at 12:34 a.m., but departures are delayed to 12:30 p.m. today, Tuesday. Most passengers chose to stay at the airport, while others left to return home.
