…as Guyanese Troy Cadogan appointed new country head
Guyana remains a market of tremendous opportunity and strategic importance for ANSA McAL, Group Chief Executive Officer Anthony N Sabga III said on Thursday. Sabga III comments came as the group announced that Guyanese Troy Cadogan has been appointed as new country head for ANSA McAL Guyana-Suriname, effective Thursday.
“As our investments and footprint continue to expand, it is important that we have dedicated leadership on the ground to strengthen collaboration across our businesses, deepen stakeholder relationships, and help identify new opportunities for sustainable growth. Troy’s appointment reflects both the significance of Guyana within our regional portfolio and our confidence in his ability to lead this important mandate,” Sabga III said.
The appointment comes as ANSA McAL continues to expand its presence and investment in Guyana through several operating companies and initiatives under its “Growing with Guyana” platform, which highlights the group’s commitment to supporting economic progress, community development, and long-term value creation.
Meanwhile, Cadogan will serve as ANSA McAL senior representative in both territories to provide strategic leadership, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and support the continued growth, coordination, and development of the Group operations across Guyana and Suriname, the company said on Thursday. He will report to the Group Chief Operating Officer.
According to the company, as Country Manager, Cadogan will work closely with Government agencies, regulators, business leaders, community partners, and other key stakeholders to support ANSA McAL strategic priorities, foster partnerships, and advance initiatives that contribute to national development. He will also oversee stakeholder engagement, corporate reputation, Government relations, and business development activities for the Group in Guyana.
Cadogan joined the Group in June 2000 and was appointed to the Board of ANSA McAL Trading Limited in January 2009. He has been with the company for over 25 years, starting as a brand manager and progressing through various roles, including divisional manager, marketing director, and deputy managing director. He holds an MBA from the University of the West Indies and completed the “High Potential Leadership Program” at Harvard Business School in 2014. ANSA McAL said that Cadogan’s leadership has been instrumental in the growth of the company in the Guyana market, and his new role is expected to further enhance the company’s presence and impact in the region.
He most recently served as Head of External Affairs for Guyana while also leading ANSA McAL Distribution Inc (AMDI) as Managing Director.
“I am honoured.”
Commenting on his appointment, Cadogan said, “I am honoured by the opportunity to serve in this new role and to continue contributing to ANSA McAl’s growth journey in Guyana. This is an exciting period for the country and for the group. I look forward to working closely with our businesses, employees, partners, customers, and stakeholders to strengthen relationships, create new opportunities, and ensure ANSA McAL continues to make a meaningful contribution to Guyana’s development.”
ANSA McAL has operated in Guyana for almost 40 decades across multiple sectors, including distribution, beverages, automotive, building solutions, real estate, and media.
