A pick-up vehicle struck and killed 25-year-old Shevin Venture of Queenstown, Essequibo Coast.
The accident occurred at around 13:35hrs today on the Queenstown Public Road in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
According to information reaching this publication, Venture was reportedly attempting to cross the public road on his electric bicycle when he was struck by the pick-up truck. The impact left him motionless on the roadway.
Public-spirited citizens rushed to his aid and transported him to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body was subsequently taken to the Suddie Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
The driver of the pick-up has been identified and is currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.
