Car thieves remanded to prison

Micheal Baptiste, 33, and Alvin Narine, 41, both of 66 Station Street, Kitty were earlier today remanded to prison when they appeared before the Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan.

They both pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to them. They were jointly charged for the offense which alleged that on August 5, 2016 at Sheriff Street, Georgetown, they stole one Primo motorcar valued $2.4M and transmission parts valued $2.4M property of Mahendra Ramcharran.

Baptiste faced an additional charge which alleged that on 15 August 2016 at Alexander, Street, Georgetown,  he stole one Primo motorcar valued $2.6M.

The prosecution facts was not presented in court. However, they objected to bail stating that the defendants are a flight risk.

The matter was adjourned for October 19, 2016. (Ramona Luthi)
