Minister of Education Sonia Parag today commissioned a state-of-the-art AutoCAD Laboratory at Bygeval Secondary School in Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice).
This modern facility moves students beyond traditional pen-and-pencil technical drawing, giving them hands-on access to advanced computer systems. With these tools, they can now easily conceptualise their ideas and transform flat sketches into accurate 3D digital models.
This exciting upgrade is part of a larger $65 million programme to outfit six specialised laboratories across the country.
Following the recent commissioning of the very first AutoCAD school lab at Abrams Zuil Secondary School in Region Two, this national rollout will soon expand to North Ruimveldt Secondary, Hope Secondary, Zeeburg Secondary, and New Amsterdam Multilateral, ensuring students nationwide gain the real-world digital skills needed to thrive.
Also attending the ceremony were several regional and ministry officials, including the newly appointed Regional Executive Officer, Ms. Mary Samaroo, and Regional Vice Chairman, Mr. Kleon Lindey.
Representing the Ministry were Dr. Ritesh Tularam, Deputy Chief Education Officer with responsibility for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET); Assistant Chief Education Officer-TVET, Ms. Marcia Paddy and Regional Education Officer, Ms. Selestine LaRose.
