[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Brazilian national was refused bail by Chief Magistrate PriyaSewnarine-Beharry on three counts of robbery and one attempt to commit a felony.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charges, which alleged that on February 5 at Pasifico General Store Barrack Retreat Street, Lethem, being armed with a gun,he attempted to rob Yonfat Chung.
The second offence alleged that on December 4, 2013 at the same place being armed with a gun he robbed Zhou Sheng of one cellular phone and one laptop computer together $188,000.
The third allegation stated on the same day, being armed with a hand gun he robbed Pasifico General Store of $10M, $US1,700, 60 wrist watches together valued $11.8 M, property of Yonfat Chung and Zhou Sheng.
The fourth charge alleged that on December 4, 2013, being armed with a gun he robbed Chung of $US310, $240 SRD, and $40,000.
Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant told the Court that on December 4 at about 19:10hrs, the victims were in Pasifico General Store when the accused along with two others tied up Chung and Sheng and robbed them.
On February 5, around 18:00 hrs, the accused was arrested on his way to Brazil and was positively identified by the victims as the persons that robbed them on December 4.
Attorney – at – Law, Peter Hugh represented the accused. However, bail was refused and the case was transferred to Lethem Court for March 3.
