Assault charge against Indian National dismissed after wife refuses to give evidence

[www.inewsguyana.com] – An assault charge against Indian national Sunil Kumar of Lot 26 Success Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara was dismissed  today (March 5) by Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond after his wife refused to give evidence.

The 32- year – old man pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on March 4 at Balwant Singh Hospital, East Street, Georgetown, he unlawfully assaulted 19 – year – old Lilawattie Puran.

When asked by the Magistrate the reason for her decision, the woman responded that it was his first mistake and she loves him too much.
