Attorney-at-law, Mohanie Sudama, says that Guyana is now ripe with opportunities for young people as a result of the work and vision of the Dr Irfaan Ali-led People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C).
Speaking at the party’s 2025 Elections Rally today at Stewartville, West Coast Demerara, today, Sudama said the PPP/C has continuously championed progress in the country – something that was seen over the last five years.
“Young people are once again hopeful. We are hopeful because under the PPP Administration, we now benefit from countless opportunities, including free tertiary education, homeownership is within our grasp, and the economy is booming with employment opportunities,” Sudama stated.

According to the lawyer, “The People’s Progressive Party/Civic and Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali believe in and are committed to the empowerment of young Guyanese ppl, regardless of their age, gender, religion or class.”
Sudama, a Candidate on the PPP/C’s List who hails from a rice-farming family, urged the massive gathering to re-elect Dr Ali and the PPP/C for another term in office, adding that doing so will ensure a bright future for them and their children.
Also, addressing supporters today was teacher Orson Garnett, who recalled the downturn the country took under the previous APNU/AFC Coalition. In the education sector, he recalled the removal of the Because We Care cash grant and the school feeding programme – all of which were returned by the PPP/C when it returned to office in 2020.

Since then, he noted that the PPP/C government has more than quadrupled the BWC cash grant to students with plans to massively increase it in the new term.
“These are reasons why you should stand strong for People’s Progressive Party/Civic. And come September 1, get up, get out and vote PPP/C,” Garnett stated.
Another speaker was a general surgeon, Dr Fiaz Hassan, who highlighted the transformation Guyana and its people have experienced over the last five years, including in the health sector.
Hassan, who is the Medical Superintendent at the newly commissioned De Kinderen Regional Hospital, pointed out that with the investments by the PPP/C Administration to enhance healthcare delivery, no longer will persons die because they can’t afford dialysis or cancer treatment or heart surgery.

With the new De Kinderen Hospital and the soon-to-be rehabilitated West Demerara Regional Hospital, Dr Hassan noted that Region Three will soon benefit from MRIs and heart surgeries done right there. Already, CT scans are being offered for free at the De Kinderen Hospital.
The doctor also highlighted how President Ali intervened to ensure that over 140 students from Region Three get into a medical programme by establishing a University of Guyana Medical College at the newly commissioned Tuschen Secondary School.
“Residents of Region Three, this is the party that empowers youth… We will bring a landslide victory [for PPP/C]; Region Three, lead the way,” Dr Hassan declared.
