In a bid for a second term in office, incumbent Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips, today urged supporters gathered at the People’s Progressive Party/Civic’s (PPP/C) Elections Rally at Stewartville, West Coast Demerara, to ensure they deliver a massive victory for the party at the upcoming September 1 General and Regional Elections.
“We want the same tsunami on September 1, so go before birds wake up and put your x next to the cut… We want you to go to your polling places and convert this tsunami into a super majority [win] for PPP/C,” Phillips declared to what he described as the biggest gathering of people in Region Three.
The PPP/C Prime Ministerial Candidate recalled in February 2020, when ‘homeboy’ Dr Irfaan Ali went to Stewartville and asked for five years, which they gave him. Today, he said they are returning to thank the people for the best decision they made in 2020.

According to Phillips, those votes in 2020 ensured not just Region Three but the whole of Guyana benefited from five years of development. He said when residents look around their communities and the region, they see everything they had asked for, delivered – roads, water treatment plants, five secondary schools and more – something that can also be seen throughout the country.
PM Phillips told supporters that the only way to deliver more to the people of Region Three and the entire Guyana is with their votes – the most powerful weapon citizens possess.
He said the PPP/C respect people’s votes and that’s why they are, once again, asking for another five years.
“Your vote and our diligence in implementing our manifesto plans, projects and programmes for you, is what has resulted in us being here today, thanking you and asking you for five more years. Five more years of development. Five more years of economic growth and economic empowerment. Five more years of youth empowerment. Five more years of empowerment of women… Five more years of prosperity.”
