The police are on the hunt for eight gunmen, who executed a daring robbery in the quiet community of Wakenaan last night (Saturday September 7) and in the process, shot businessman Rohan Dhanayshure, 40 years.
iNews understands that the businessman was shot in the arm, while his wife and other family members were beaten by the gunmen at their Good Success home. Reports indicate that the masked men arrived on the island via boat and asked specifically for the businessman, who was at the time attending a wedding reception.
Upon arriving home, he was shot. Meanwhile, police in a statement later this morning explained that that six men armed with firearms had broken into the home and held up Rohan Dhanayshure’s daughter and son-in-law and took away an undisclosed quantity of jewellery and cash. During this time Rohan Dhanayshure returned home and was confronted by the men and shot. The armed men escaped in a boat.
