[www.inewsguyana.com]At around 18:40hrs on Wednesday (October 30), fire ripped through a building in Eccles Industrial Site, East Bank Demerara which served as a storage bond for Comfort Sleep and Payless.

Fire fighters and employees of Comfort Sleep battled to save another storage bond housed in the administrative building.

Marketing Manager of Comfort Sleep, Amanda Chung told reporters at the scene that she received a call that Comfort Sleep and Payless Bonds were on fire.

She explained that the storage bond housed the raw materials that they use to make the foam which produces the mattress. The very chemical caused huge balls of fire, which became uncontrollable for the Fire Fighters to manage. Both companies are said to have lost millions of dollars in the incident. The cause of the fire is not yet known and the building is said to be insured.

Investigations are ongoing. [Nickhail Jaundoo]
