Technical issue forces cancellation of CAL flight from CJIA

See full statement from the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority and the Cheddi Jagan International Airport Corporation: 

The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Management of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport Corporation (CJIAC) wish to confirm that Caribbean Airlines (CAL) Flight BW526, originally scheduled to depart at 17:55 hrs. last evening, was cancelled due to a technical issue with the aircraft.

Following extensive efforts by CAL’s ground team to resolve the issue, the technical problem remained unresolved. Officials from the GCAA and CJIAC collaborated closely with senior representatives from Caribbean Airlines’ Head Office, resulting in a joint decision to cancel the flight to guarantee the absolute safety of all passengers and crew.

Caribbean Airlines has assured the Guyana authorities that all affected passengers are being appropriately accommodated and will be seamlessly rebooked on the next available flights.

The GCAA engineering team is currently working with Caribbean Airlines’ technical personnel to conduct a thorough inspection of the aircraft and complete the necessary safety assessments before it is authorized for its next departure.
